JK4K Summer Scholars Program

Summer Scholars is the premier program of Jacarrie Kicks for Kids, serving as the gateway to our enduring relationship with Milwaukee's youth, whom we honorably refer to as Scholars. This exceptional, high-quality, 5-week, all-day summer program caters to students from kindergarten through 12th grade in Milwaukee’s central city. Our curriculum is meticulously crafted to unlock each Scholar's potential, nurturing character, positive self-image, and the leadership skills essential for cultivating a growth mindset. This program is dedicated to deepening each Scholar's faith, empowering them to overcome community-wide challenges. Through a blend of experiential learning—including classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and field trips—Scholars are encouraged to translate their values into action. Additionally, our curriculum focuses on developing literacy and math skills to further core educational advancement, preparing our Scholars for the upcoming school year and preventing the summer slide. Recognizing the importance of childhood joy and discovery, Summer Scholars also offers sports, arts, field trips, and numerous other activities in a safe, nurturing environment, ensuring our kids can truly be kids!

Kicking Towards Success Entrepreneurship Program:

Kicking Towards Success Entrepreneurship program is a 3-month program that services and teaches entrepreneurial leadership, strategies, venture financing, and startup skills to students ages 10-17. Students leave the program owning their very own startup business. After 3 months of programming, students receive an additional year of mentoring and business training to ensure their business is thriving.

Emerging Scholars Afterschool Program:

Emerging Scholars: After-school programming for youth in grades K4 through 8th grade that develops youth academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Each session includes high school-aged alumni leading activities under the supervision of adult staff. Programming is offered Monday through Friday from 3:15-5:00 pm with periodic field trips.

SCHOLAR MENTORING PROGRAM OVERVIEW

All youth are enrolled in our year-round programs and services, which are concentrated in our Scholar Mentoring program. We recognize that our youth must develop to their full potential academically, socially/emotionally/spiritually to become the change leaders needed in our communities. In order to accomplish this:

  • Our mentors establish long-term relationships with youth at our Summer Scholars program and continue these relationships throughout the year.

  • Our organization establishes formal partnerships with high-quality schools and organizations in the greater Milwaukee area to provide our youth with the programs and services that meet each one's individual needs. We use a formal tracking system to document and track each scholar's progress.

  • We offer programming and formal touchpoints that include Community Events (toy drives, coat drives, fashion shows, etc.) that our youth organize and lead, Connection (our donate and restoration shoe program), and onsite academic and character development-focused after-school programs.

  • We continue our support beyond high school with our Postsecondary Educational Scholarship program. Our high school graduates are eligible for financial scholarships for higher education and guidance for post-secondary educational institutional selection.
